The Year of the Ox Arrives at Matador

A fine cigar is the perfect accompaniment to the aficionados born in the Year of the Ox. The Ox likes to reflect, ruminate and make decisions at his own pace. Once the Ox sets a course of action, he will see it through. Step by step. Always moving forward. The Ox is diligent, patient, and determined. The Ox ploughs his own furrow and is never diverted from his course. Some see a stubborn creature. Others see strength of purpose. It is this strength which is a source of reassurance for those who know and love the Ox. They welcome […]

David and Goliath and 5th Anniversary by Foundation Cigars!

Foundation Cigar Company’s Tabernacle cigar embodies founder Nicholas Melillo’s long-time passion and intimate experience with the Broadleaf varietal – made even deeper by his connection, as a native son, to Connecticut soil.  Out of reverence for the tobacco leaf, and tobacco tradition, the brand is named for the hallowed sanctuary of Hebrew scripture: The Tabernacle – which housed the Ark of the Covenant before the building of the Temple of Solomon. For Foundation’s latest release, a two-size extension to the Tabernacle line, Melillo has again drawn on biblical inspiration to represent his life in tobacco and his commitment to the […]

Fonseca Makes a Comeback with My Father Cigars!

The new Fonseca by My Father is completely different from the non-Cuban Fonsecas that were produced by the Quesada family, the former brand owners, in the Dominican Republic. Whereas Quesada-made Fonsecas typically included a mix of tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Mexico and the United States, the Fonseca by My Father is rolled entirely from tobacco grown in Nicaragua, the same country where the new cigars are rolled. Though technically these are not the first Nicaraguan-made Fonsecas, the new Fonsecas from My Father are unique because all of the tobaccos used to roll them were grown by the Garcia family, founders […]

Undercrown Sungrown Dogma Now Available!

Drew Estate began shipping the Undercrown Dojo Dogma Sun Grown, a 5 x 54 box-pressed robusto extra. The cigar uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a stalk-cut and stalk-cured habano binder from the Connecticut River Valley. Underneath are fillers from Nicaragua, including aged ligero from the Nuevo Segovia region. The Dojo Dogma brand is a collaboration between Drew Estate and Cigar Dojo, an online cigar blog and community. Cigar Dojo has partnered with a number of brands to create Dojo-themed cigars, though most of them have been sold at a specific retailer.

Atabey and Byron Now Available in All Locations!

At long last, we now carry Atabey and Byron cigars in all of our locations. These ultra-premium cigars earned a perfect score from The Cigar Authority. The Atabey uses a top secret blend known only to a handful of people across the world while the Byron comes in three distinct profiles all of which also use confidential blends. The name Atabey has ties to the Taino Indians and the cigar culture. It all began with Cohiba which referred to the circle the tribe would gather in to pray. They would offer their prayers to the leader known as Behike who […]

New TAA Cigar Released by Rocky Patel!

This medium to full bodied cigar features more flavor notes than almost any other cigar we’ve ever brought in. Maple syrup, campfire, salt, and the list goes on and on. All of that is nothing compared to the smoke output this cigar has. It even rivals some Drew Estate cigars in that regards. We only received a handful of boxes for each location so if you’re a fan of Rocky Patel, be sure to come down, give it a shot, and let us know what you think.
